Lizardfolk of Solidar Minor

There have always been lizardfolk in the swamps, forests, and jungles of Solidar Minor, but as of late a large influx of immigrants have arrived from further south, boosting their population.  Their influence is now keenly felt on the demihuman populations.  Four major tribes have made the journey, each with their own totems and traditions.

Turtle Tribe

By far the most civil and peaceful of the lizardfolk tribes, the Turtle Tribe resides at the Hyldavar Tortuga Temple Ruins within the Swamp of the Lost.  They value hard work, stoic resolution, and continual progressive movement in all things, personally, politically, and spiritually.  They are among the few lizardfolk Tribes that encourage reading, learning, diplomacy, and cultural mingling.  They are governed by a joint council headed by a tribal defender and a learned shaman, called ‘Champion’ and ‘Cleverman’ respectively.

Frog Tribe

Elusive and agoraphobic, the Frog Tribe has a near xenophobic view of all other races.  They are governed by a shaman leader that continually emphasizes pursuit of spiritual matters at the exclusion of the physical world.  Frog Tribe lizardfolk spend 2-3 years of their adolescence swimming through the Astral Plane before reaching adulthood, and when they return, have a disjointed, distanced view of the Material Realm.  Frog Tribe lizardfolk are known for their knowledge and use of various poisons, especially hallucinogens, and find the touch of iron or steel anathema.  They also prefer not to speak, using gestures, pheromones, and telepathy when available.  The only races allowed in Frog Tribe territory are boggards, grippli, other lizardfolk, and a handful of fey.

Gator Tribe

Brutal in the extreme, the Gator Tribe is hardly more civilized than the totem creature they worship.  When satiated they can be quite lazy, but when hungry, or angry, they are terrifying to behold.  They build and make nothing, snatching what they need from others.  Positions of power are taken by force, the weak are consumed by the strong at the first opportunity, and every conflict is resolved by violence.  The Gator Tribe lizardfolk give orcs a run for their money when it comes to savagery.  Their totem is the oldest and most powerful of their kind, allowing their patrons to live for centuries and grow to immense sizes, becoming true monsters of legend.  The Gator Tribe residing in Tief Lake and the Swamp of the Lost are those that migrated north four years ago, refusing the yoke of the serpentfolk regime that usurped their southern homelands.  Gator Tribe lizardfolk live for the thrill of the kill, answer to none, and mate out of pure spite.

Snake Tribe

The Snake Tribe that migrated north with the other lizardfolk is a splinter group that was cast out by a larger whole; the Savage Jungle lizardfolk nation was seized and enslaved by the Snake Tribe under the guidance of other serpentfolk.  The Tribe that resides now in the Swamp of the Lost are those that refused to bow to that new leadership.  Still, deception and malice runs in their very veins, and they often seek to supplant their other lizardfolk brethren.  They are more cunning and agile than their fellow lizardfolk kin, and more adept at arcane magic.  Some suspect that there are spies in their midst that are still loyal to the serpentfolk cult of the south, causing the group to splinter further and continually fight among themselves.  They are governed by a council of 4 distinct spellcasters, called the Hydra’s Heads, who each try to exert their own influence over the rest of the community.
